Local House

Local House is a Miami-based experience brand offering high-energy land, air, and water adventures—from paragliding and parasailing to snorkeling and more. The goal was to design a website that captures the vibrant, sun-soaked spirit of Miami while showcasing their diverse experience offerings. Inspired by the bold visuals of beach culture, the site embraces punchy accent colors like pink, purple, yellow, and blue, with a heavy emphasis on full-screen images and videos. The visual tone was playful, dynamic, and unapologetically tropical.

How Did the Project Start:

The project began with a clear vision: create a website that doesn't just list adventures, but feels like one. The brief focused on bringing Miami’s unmistakable energy to the digital space while making it effortless for users to explore available experiences. A key direction from the start was to steer away from traditional booking platforms and instead create an immersive, lifestyle-first website that builds excitement and trust.

Project Execution:

  1. Competitive Analysis: Studied experience and adventure tourism platforms to evaluate how they balance credibility with excitement. This helped identify visual and structural opportunities that Local House could uniquely own.
  2. User Flow: Designed a fluid, visual-first journey where users could browse experiences by type (land, air, water), with each one brought to life through immersive media and clear CTAs.
  3. Information Architecture: Focused on simplicity and discoverability. Experiences were categorized intuitively, and each detail page provided concise information, safety notes, and high-impact visuals.
  4. Wireframing: Initial wireframes emphasized visual storytelling—allocating space for video headers, image-driven navigation, and layered text that would later be styled in a mix of bold and handwritten fonts.
  5. High-Fidelity Mockups: The final design used a “Miami postcard” aesthetic, featuring a large stylized MIAMI text on the homepage (inspired by the Hollywood sign), paired with a secondary cursive handwritten font. A vibrant color palette and expressive motion helped create an unforgettable first impression.

Visual Elements

  • Miami-Themed Aesthetic: Bold, fun, and full of personality. The design channels Miami’s color, light, and energy through typography, color, and layout.
  • Full-Screen Media: Experiences were brought to life with immersive videos and image galleries that capture the thrill of each activity.
  • Playful Typography: The homepage features a custom “MIAMI” sign-style type paired with a casual, cursive font to add personality and balance.
  • Punchy Color Accents: Electric pinks, deep purples, ocean blues, and sunset yellows were used strategically across the UI for energy and contrast.
  • Interactive Transitions: Subtle parallax scrolls and hover effects added motion without overwhelming the content, making the browsing experience smooth and engaging.

Conclusion:

By leaning into bold visuals, expressive typography, and a playful Miami vibe, the website brings the spirit of adventure to life. The final design doesn’t just showcase activities—it captures the energy, excitement, and personality that make Local House experiences unforgettable.
